The country went into lockdown exactly 5 weeks ago today. Although we must keep social distancing and self isolating it is vital to keep motivated and active as best as possible.

The guidelines are still suggesting that we can still leave our homes for essential work, vital shopping and medicine, to care for someone else, and once a day for daily exercise.

To compliment our online home workout hub which is packed full of workouts and useful tips we also recommend if it is possible to do your daily exercise outside of your home whether it is a short walk or a run. It’s incredibly important that we keep active even now, both for our own wellbeing and to avoid storing up massive health problems for ourselves and the NHS in the future.

Just a 20-minute walk can prevent long-term health conditions like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers.

Below are a few guidance points which should be adhered too.

  • Walk locally
  • Choose open spaces
  • Wash your hands when you get home
  • AND STAY 2 METRES APART FROM OTHERS

You can walk with

  • People from your immediate household
  • Your dog

You should not walk…

  • In groups of two or more people
  • With people from outside your household
