The safety of our members and staff is our number one priority which is why we have introduced a new booking platform like many other leisure operators. Each club will have a capacity to maintain a safe training environment inline with health and fitness social distancing guidelines, this helps us to control and assess the flow of visitors across the venues in the early stages of re-opening and will prevent unnecessary queuing.
All peak time gym sessions (Monday – Friday 08:45 – 11:15 & 16:00 – 20:00), swim sessions and fitness classes have to be booked online but members can attend off-peak gym sessions without booking.

We do not require visitors to wear face masks when in the gym or fitness class studios or taking part in any physical activity, however we recommend all visitors wear a face mask/covering when in any other area of our venues to help control the spread of the virus.

To book gyms sessions and classes you must register for the new online booking platform. Information can be found in the FAQ below.

The Tier 3 guidelines stipulate that fitness classes across the country should be temporarily withdrawn under these restrictions, but we remain hopeful that they will be able to return shortly. However, we have been planning for this eventuality and are very excited to announce that we will be launching an online streaming service that will be free for Activ8 members during the time our classes remain closed. The live streaming programme will include over 30 weekly classes delivered by our expert coaches and include all your favourite brands like Les Mills, Pound, Clubbercise and more!
As a charitable trust you are at the heart of everything we do and we really hope you can continue to support us just like you have been throughout all of this and continue with your payments, but we do have options to freeze your membership if you’re not able to do so, just drop us a line here. Don’t forget, hopefully this will all be reviewed shortly and we may be able to return to the usual class programme in no time at all!
When attending either a pool or equipment based fitness class, please ensure you arrive at the venue 10-15 minutes before the start of the session. This will give you enough time to get changed or set up the equipment necessary.
When attending other non-equipment based fitness classes, please turn up 5 minutes before the start of the session.
Non-members will be able to book and visit however members will benefit from an additional day to book before sessions are opened up to everyone. Members can book 8 days in advance, non-members can book 7 days in advance.
Members and non-members will need to register to book gym sessions and fitness classes online. Please see the guidance above for details.

We will be assessing capacity levels for sessions on a regular basis, especially at peak times but spaces are limited at the moment to allow for social distancing. We understand that demand will be high, especially at peak times, but we are committed to creating a safe training environment for everyone to enjoy.
When on Tees Active’s booking platform looking at sessions, you can check the availability of each session by clicking the ‘Check Availability’ button. If the session is full, you have the option to join a waiting list and will be contacted if a space becomes available.
All water fountains are temporarily out of use, so we ask that you bring a drink with you to stay hydrated through your workout.
Although some lockers will be in use, all changing facilities are temporarily closed so we ask that you arrive ready for your workout and limit the number of personal items you bring.
For the time being we ask that you do not bring a towel with you. We have provided cleaning equipment for all visitors to wipe down kit after use.
We have introduced a number of lanes outside each venue to allow us to manage quick access into your session. We have installed a colour-coded lane system for different activities so please arrive with enough time before your session and follow the signage in place. On some occasions there may be a short wait to access the centre so please come appropriately dressed for the weather.
Once in the venue you will be asked to sanitise your hands and check-in at once of the fast check-in points, this could be at reception or via the kiosk.
If you are attending an off-peak gym session you do not need to wait, simply head into the venue and scan your arrival using your mywellness band or membership card.
Each venue has a specific exit route that our team will make you aware of. Please follow the systems in place to respect the safety of our staff and fellow members.
To maintain the highest level of hygiene across the clubs, showers and changing facilities are not in use at the moment. We ask that members can arrive ready for their session.
A limited number of lockers are available and we ask that everyone shows respect to other members and adhere to social distancing guidelines in these areas.
The lockers are cleaned regularly but we also ask members to make use of the cleaning products available when accessing and leaving lockers.
Toilets are open for one member at a time and we ask that you follow the designated signage in place.
We have relocated many classes to additional areas around our venues to make sure we can still offer an extensive live instructor-led and virtual timetable with all your favourite brands and offset the social distancing measures we have introduced.
We have also increased time between classes where necessary to allow long enough for members to clean their equipment after use before the next class starts.
At some venues you may be asked to leave the building via a different route to entry and your instructor will make you aware of this and guide you in the right direction.
Capacities vary across each club and are reviewed continually to ensure maximum safety for members. During off-peak times, when you do not need to book, our staff ensure the gyms do not go over capacity.
The vast majority of equipment is in use, however we have limited access to some equipment in order to maintain social distancing guidelines. This includes a very minimal amount of cardio equipment and functional training spaces. We have also re-positioned some equipment on the gym floor to adhere to social distancing, whilst making sure there is a diverse range of kit for you to perform a full body workout.
