Well there’s no need to be disheartened because here at Activ8 we have a vast array of activities on offer that are suitable for beginners and those who are just getting back into exercise after an injury. After all, low-impact doesn’t have to mean low-intensity and the below workouts are guaranteed to elevate your heart rate and boost your endorphins whilst protecting your joints.

Pilates

Pilates is a low-impact workout that improves muscle strength, balance and quality of life. We have multiple Pilates classes that all offer a unique low-intensity mat based workout that focuses on posture, flexibility and core strength. Through breathing and relaxation techniques, learning to control your different muscle groups, practicing coordination and increasing your movement precision, this class will hugely elevate your  your overall health, fitness and wellbeing whilst leaving you feeling calm and poised.

Cycling Studio Classes

Indoor cycling is a great low-impact non-weight bearing exercise that can be high-intensity and will get your sweating in no time! Pushing your limits and putting your muscles, heart and lungs to the test this workout aids weight-loss burning up to 732 calories an hour (based on a 150lbs individual cycling at a high intensity). At Activ8 we offer two different indoor cycling classes that will push you to your limit and improve your fitness from the first session.

Group Cycle™ Connect

Group Cycle™ Connect is a revolutionary cycling class developed by fitness industry giants Technogym and Activ8 Health & Fitness were the first providers in the UK!  Group Cycle™ Connect is perfect for those who love performance training, adapted challenges and entertainment, the class highlights key workout metrics to always keep you in your peak training zone. All this combined with great music and effects too!

Les Mills RPM™

Les Mills RPM™ is a group indoor cycling workout where you control the intensity. It’s fun, low impact and is a great way to build up your sense of personal achievement. With great music pumping and the group spinning as one, your instructor takes you on a journey of hill climbs, sprints and flat riding.

Swimming

Swimming is a fantastic way to get fit whilst reducing the impact that exercise can have on your joints. The drag force of water allows this sport to provide great resistance training that can strengthen your core, back, shoulders and legs! It is therefore a great way to get in your cardio and even burns up to 414 calories in 60 minutes (based on a 150lbs individual swimming front crawl). It is also important to highlight that buoyancy in the water reduces stress on the body which lessens the pain from existing injuries and prevents new ones from occurring.

Water based classes

Here at Activ8 we know swimming isn’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a dip in the pool! We have multiple water based classes that allow a diverse range of exercises that are low impact.

Aquafit

Aquafit classes are a great way to stay fit and healthy no matter your age or ability! These classes use the resistance of the water to provide a full body, low intensity workout that is effective for building muscle and burning calories! Lose weight, improve your mobility, strength and flexibility with Aquafit classes across our pools.

Active+ Aquafit

Active+ Aquafit classes provide low impact training through the resistance and support of the water and are suitable for individuals over the age of 50. These fitness classes produce excellent health benefits including improved mobility, stamina and strength. They also reduce the risk of heart disease, lower stress levels and provide a great socialising opportunity.

Hydrofighter

Hydrofighter is the aquatic fitness class that packs a punch! This high intensity, cardiovascular style of training has adapted mixed martial arts and boxing exercises combined with the resistance of the water to deliver a cardio conditioning full body workout. The additional buoyancy of the pool also makes it possible to perform jumping strikes and high kicks using the Hydrostatic pressure of the water for massage and support.

Hydropole

Hydropole classes use the resistance of water for a real waistline workout and the buoyancy to replicate gymnastic style flexibility and improve core strength. The Hydropole training concept has been designed and developed to be a dynamic workout with a few flairs of the vertical pole dance element.

Hydro AHIIT

Hydro AHIIT is a water-based, high-intensity, interval training fitness class that uses the resistance of the water to provide a great full body workout! Using energetic music with a combination of bursts of intense exercise and varying rest periods, Hydro AHIIT is a great class to add to your workout.

Yoga

Yoga is slower paced workout that is low-impact and has multiple benefits as it provides a combination of physical, mental and spiritual practices that engage both the body and the mind. Focusing on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost your physical and mental wellbeing, Yoga is the fitness class that we should all make time for.

Active+

Our Active+ classes provide low intensity workouts that focus on improving general fitness levels as well as joint mobility, flexibility and co-ordination. These gentle exercises allow you to work at your own pace and can be altered to accommodate your health conditions. The lowest level of this class is our Chair Based class which is aimed at individuals who are suffering with neurological conditions or limited mobility. This class is delivered in a chair, with participants remaining seated throughout and it will provide a fun, full body workout using light weights, resistance bands and exercise balls. There are then three other levels that each have different ratios of floor based and chair based movement.
